I moved to my new apartment on July 17, 2009. On
moving day I was told that my new neighbor upstairs complains about
everything. Another neighbor told me that this woman is a very difficult
person, a writer and an atheist. I was led to believe that above my
apartment lives an impossible person to get along with. I have not met
this woman so I really did not know what to think of her.
About a week later, after her doorbell rang, this woman appeared on the balcony of the second floor and told me, "Everyone is using my doorbell". She has her own doorbell that says, "This doorbell is only for Hilde". There are ten tenants in buildings A and B. The landlord has a bell outside the gate; visitors are supposed to pull the string to make a sound. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to know whose guest is outside the gate. She made her first impression on me that my guests were ringing her doorbell and that they were not supposed to. I told all my friends who were coming to visit my new place to please send me a text message or call my home number once they are outside my gate as I do not have my own doorbell and to please not ring the doorbell for Hilde.
Two weeks later, on my way to our Wednesday evening service, one neighbor stopped me. She was frantic, "I was wondering if you can come and help. Hilde was unconscious. Her blood pressure was very high. We need someone to give her injections and monitor her blood pressure. Can you help?" I asked, "Is she OK? Does she need help right now?". The neighbor's response, "She is resting right now and she is OK. Can she call you if she needs help?" My response, "Of course!" I gave her my home number and cell phone number and went on my way to church.
The next morning, my phone rang. It was Hilde asking me to please come and check her blood pressure. I immediately went up and checked her blood pressure. It was fine. She thanked me and asked how much I charge. I said, "no charge". I told her I'd be happy to do it for her whenever she needs me to come. I've been checking her blood pressure twice a day for over a week now.
This woman that everyone told me is difficult to get along with is now asking me to come to her house twice a day to check her blood pressure. In the course of one week, I've come to know Hilde, two of her friends, her doctor and her life story. Isn't it interesting how God opened the door for Hilde to need my nursing skills so that I could begin to befriend her?
Last Friday, August 7, my prayer partner Helen and I prayed for Hilde's salvation. We asked the Lord to give me courage to pray for Hilde and wisdom on when and how to share the gospel with her.
Today, around 3:30 pm my phone rang. Hilde wanted me to check her blood pressure as she was not feeling well. I quickly went upstairs to see how she is doing. Her blood pressure was fine but she was not. She said, she is worried and anxious about a lot of things. I asked Hilde if I could pray for her. She was in shock! It seems that she has never prayed before. I said, "just bow down your head and close your eyes and I will pray". I prayed and asked the Lord Jesus to heal Hilde. I asked Jesus to give wisdom for all her doctors and for her to feel better soon. When we opened our eyes, Hilde said she liked my prayer. She was particularly struck with my request for God to give wisdom to her doctors. She thanked me for coming. I told her God heard our prayer.

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand
words. We recently held two evangelistic crusade nights here in
Cuernavaca. You
can view all the photos at www.notepierdas.org and click on Facebook which is on the right
lower side of the page. It is hard for me to describe everything
that happened so I think the best way is to just check out the
photos.
As always, thank you for your love, prayers and
support.
