October 2006 Email Update

Back in January while attending the Calvary Chapel Missions conference I met a pastor producing evangelistic materials for Latin America . He offered to send me some Cds, tapes and Spanish materials for Bible study. He mailed these materials through my church in WA and the team that went to Honduras in April brought these materials for me.

I have been giving away these Cds to my non-Christian friends and have seen one gal come to know the Lord through this Cd called Encuentro (Encounter) that talks about who Jesus is.

Last Sunday evening, I was visiting one of my non-Christian friends (Flor) as she was hospitalized last Friday night for gastroenteritis. I could not see her last Friday as my schedule was packed. Flor was telling what they did in the hospital, how severe her abdominal pain was and how much the hospital cost. She came home Saturday morning, exhausted from lack of sleep the night before and tried to sleep more on Saturday. For some reason, she could not sleep; when she finally slept she had a bad dream and woke up scared and perspiring. I told her, “Classical music always helps me relax when I am tense”. She said, “No, I put on the Cd (Encuentro) that you gave me and the songs really soothe my heart”. I had forgotten that I had given her this Cd. She continued, “The songs in this Cd really comforted my heart and helped me relax and I was able to sleep again.” Well, Flor definitely heard the gospel last Saturday night as this Cd explains who Jesus is and invites everyone to receive Jesus at the end of the Cd. She did not say she said the prayer and I did not press on.

As I was driving home, I thought, “Oh God, you are definitely calling people to yourself and what a privilege I have to see and be part of this process”. I also saw how much God loves Flor so that He would allow me to meet this pastor in California , have the Honduras team bring the Cds, allow Flor to have a bad dream so that she would listen to this Cd.

Isn’t it amazing how God works?

I don’t think Flor is a Christian yet (not that I know of at least) but she definitely will hear the gospel again as she listens to this Cd.

Will you pray that I continue to be obedient to God’s calling on my life and that Flor will soon come to know the Lord in a personal way?
